Protect Your Innovation: Industrial Property Workshop (not only) for Semiconductor Companies

Patents and intellectual property are a fundamental part of the semiconductor business. From chip architectures and circuit designs to manufacturing technologies, materials, equipment and applications, companies need to understand not only how to protect their own innovations, but also how to navigate existing intellectual property rights.

Large semiconductor companies typically have dedicated IP teams, patent specialists and established procedures for training R&D staff. Start-ups, SMEs and smaller technology companies face many of the same challenges – often without comparable in-house resources. For them, a practical understanding of industrial property can therefore be particularly valuable.

The Moravian Library in Brno is hosting a free workshop, Introduction to Industrial Property Rights and Databases of the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic, on 3 September. Participants will receive an introduction to patents, utility models, industrial designs, trade marks and other forms of industrial property protection. The programme will also include practical exercises in searching freely accessible databases of the Czech Industrial Property Office.

The workshop will also introduce opportunities for financial support for industrial property protection through the Innovation Vouchers scheme. The programme will be led by Hana Churáčková from the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic and Hana Rozkopalová from the Business and Innovation Agency.

For semiconductor start-ups, SMEs, researchers and innovators, the workshop offers an accessible opportunity to strengthen an area that can have a direct impact on a company’s technology strategy, competitiveness and ability to commercialise R&D results.

Participation is free of charge, but capacity is limited and advance registration is required.
