CSC collaboration leads to deeper industry integration between onsemi and Codasip

Czech Semiconductor Centre (CSC) is beginning to deliver on its role as a platform connecting industry, academia, and research to accelerate semiconductor innovation in Czechia and across Europe.

A recent example is the expansion of US-based chipmaker onsemi in Czechia through the acquisition of part of Brno-based company Codasip, which specialises in processor design. Both companies are active members of the CSC consortium, and their collaboration within this framework has, over the past year, contributed to closer alignment and now to a deeper strategic integration.

This development represents an important step for onsemi as it continues to strengthen its research and development capabilities in the region. By integrating advanced chip design expertise with its established manufacturing operations in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, onsemi is reinforcing its position within the European semiconductor value chain.

From an ecosystem perspective, this milestone illustrates how structured collaboration within CSC can translate into concrete industrial outcomes. By bringing together key stakeholders — including industry partners, universities, and research organisations — CSC creates an environment where partnerships can evolve naturally from cooperation to long-term strategic alignment.

It also highlights the growing maturity of the Czech semiconductor landscape. Local innovation, particularly in areas such as processor architecture and RISC-V design, is increasingly able to scale and integrate into global industry structures.

As Europe continues to pursue greater technological sovereignty and resilience in semiconductor technologies, developments like this demonstrate the importance of coordinated ecosystem efforts. CSC plays a key role in enabling these connections and supporting the transition from research and collaboration to real-world impact.

The onsemi–Codasip integration is a clear signal that Central Europe is not only a manufacturing hub, but increasingly a centre for advanced chip design and innovation.
