From September 5–7, 2025, the traditional Science and Technology Festival took place at the Brno Exhibition Centre, attracting more than 15,000 visitors. Organized by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, the event welcomed families, students, and professionals eager to experience the fascinating world of science and technology. Alongside numerous interactive exhibits prepared by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication and other faculties of Brno University of Technology, special attention was drawn to the Czech Semiconductor Centre (CSC). Established in Brno, this newly created centre aims to connect academia with industry and become a key driver of innovation in the field of semiconductors.

Festival visitors were introduced to the world of chips and semiconductors by Martin Balabán from the Faculty of Business and Management. He explained why this project is strategically important not only for academic research but also for the future of the Czech economy. The CSC is part of a six-member consortium that includes Brno University of Technology (BUT), Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), companies onsemi and Codasip, the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster (CNSC), and the innovation agency JIC. Together, they are building a platform with the ambition to strengthen the Czech Republic’s position within the European semiconductor industry.

The Science and Technology Festival was therefore not only an opportunity for entertainment and science popularization but also a stage for presenting a major projects with the potential to transform both industry and the technological future of the country. The Czech Semiconductor Centre demonstrated that Brno is emerging as an important hub for semiconductor innovation.
